Bear Island - Day 3 - Temagami

Another beautiful and productive day!

We recorded Eddie’s voice for another testimonial, from Casey’s Temagami Water Management document. Also Audrey started editing on Nadine’s computer (the Mac, since we still need to get Davinci onto the PC). Audrey had an editing intro on Tuesday, so with Ericka’s help (thanks for joining us!) they began reviewing the John Turner footage and selecting clips.

At 10 a.m., Wayne arrived, who is Casey’s dad and a musician. He brought lots of instruments!

We had our usual morning check-in circle, joined by Wayne, Andrew, Audrey, Eddie, Nadine, Casey and Lisa g. After the check-in, Ericka learned the audio recorder and while we jammed together—Ericka recorded audio! There was even a fully improvised song with mournful vocals by Eddie. It was very powerful and moving. It would be perfect for the doc.

Every Wednesday, Cindy (the principal of the school) sells lunch at the store! So we had beef soup, tuna salad bannock dog and peanut butter cookies! FABULOUS!

After lunch, Daisy arrived around 1 p.m. in her canoe. We all pulled together to set up for her interview, which took place at a desk since Daisy brought so many documents, binders, books and imagery. She provided a lot of factual context for the documentary. As well as passion for the story.

Afer the interview, we returned to recording music and sound. Wayne and Andrew prepared a song that we filmed and recorded indoors. Then we moved outside to film more, with Eddie joining in on drums and vocals. We also recorded isolated sounds with Eddie and Wayne.

At the end of the day, we backed up all the footage and caught the 5:15pm shuttle. That night Nadine and Lisa got the student computer ready to be the main editing station!
