Bear Island - Day 2 - Temagami
Every day feels like two — so much happens!
Arnold picked us up again with the shuttle. On the morning water taxi, we met Tamara, who works at the health centre, and another woman who is an art therapist at the school.
We arrived to meet Casey again this morning, and today we brought Nadine’s computer in order to start organizing the media and teach some editing. There is a plan to get a Temagami computer loaded with Davinci (editing software) so Audrey can edit once we leave.
We met Silas on the drive to the Canoe House! So nice to see him again! He worked on the 2018 film: Paranormal Resistivity. At lunch, we met Desi, Zachary’s mom from the 2018 crew. She was out in a small boat. Zach worked on Reckless Rez Wrestling.
We captured underwater footage with Eddie g and downloaded DaVinci Resolve onto Audrey’s laptop. Throughout the day, we recorded voiceover testimonials with Andrew and Audrey.
Later, we interviewed Christine Friday at her home and by her beach. She also did some b-roll dance footage! In a beautiful, serendipitous moment, Chritine’s drum made a sound at a particularly powerful point in her interview.
We also interviewed John Turner outside his home. And while he was speaking, an eagle flew overhead — another incredible, meaningful moment.
The whole team came together:
Eddie g did the sound,
Audrey was on camera,
Casey conducted interviews
We ended the day syncing sound, organizing gear, backing everything up, and testing the mics. We learned that we need a mini-to-¼-inch adapter to make the wireless mics function properly.
Casey and Lisa g had a quick dip in Temagami Lake as well!
It was a full, beautiful day.
On an aside: There are tons of shadflies (also called mayflies) everywhere— they are these beautiful bugs that live very briefly as food for other creatures….
