Eenchokay Birchstick School - workshop optional

Today we explored Pikangikum after the fresh snow fall. We walked to the lake, to the northern store and then back to the school. The colours were beautiful. We noticed the old portables of the temporary school (now homes) and the Chinese food restaurant and the community centre (where bingo was last night), we met friendly dogs who joined us for part of the walk.

Back at the school Vanessa was hanging some amazing student-designed advertising posters. School was cancelled due to a death in the community. So the mentors prepped for the next day and worked with a few students who decided to come in and film scenes in the quiet hallways. Brentyn, Kamden and Delroy filmed a TON of scenes for their film. Delroy worked both camera and sound like a champ and Kamden and Brentyn really got into their characters (Bully and Bullied). They also brought all their footage into Final Cut, synced a bit of their sound and had a look at their footage. The footage looked really pro! They also discussed costume live action versus animated special effects and they may choose to go the costume route. This group had fun (we could hear their laughter) and worked hard. Our favourite combo. ;)
