Old Crow day 7
WoW! What a whirlwind of activity!
Starting early at 7:30am to try to get the animation station working. Lots of crazy glitches but in the end - we moved the Mac over and so we created the second animation station using the Mac not the PC!
We moved Florence over to edit on a pc but this makes a whole bunch of Mac/pc challenges…
Today the students are back and Mariel introduced herself and all the things that happen in Dawson City and what KIAC is and talked about how she hopes to support creative interests and ideas in Old Crow!
Then Mariel shares some animated films and then get the students all working on a collaborative animation project. Today we have Ben and Jack and Ashlynn, Sadie and Jonathan. Jonathan selects some music and learns some editing in the Davinci Resolve program. Then he goes out to film the drone and it turns out he is an expert! Then he brings AMAZING footage he filmed when he was on the land with his grandpa! Then he selected a better song and made some more edits! His film is really coming along.
Brianna came back as well, her kids were sick over the weekend but are feeling better. Briana used the time at home to consider her project and decided to bring in some of her amazing family videos when they are at their camp. So she transferred footage from her phone to the Mac and then to the PC where she started editing it all together. When she left she whittled her hours and hours of footage down to 27 minutes! Bravo. That is hard to do.
Jocelyn unfortunately won’t be able to come back to finish her film but she is dreaming of filmmaking and taking care of herself!
Florence recorded some audio corrections and now has a timeline with her Gwich'in audio edit complete. So now comes the fun part: adding images! Florence is still considering having English subtitles. Her story is about a helicopter trip and her memories of being on the land.
Mary Jane worked on her intro and titling and adding more imagery ! She got about 1/2 way filling her timeline! YAY!
The collaborative student group made an EPIC experimental animation and had such fun.
Ruth came at the end of the day and did some final sound edits, end credit edits and little adjustment. Ruth’s film is almost finished. Her eulogy.
Ryder came by too and watched Ruth’s video and thinks he want to make a movie. Come back tomorrow! we will be here!
