Bear Island - day two

Wow, crazy weather day with rain and thunder and lightening! And then it cleared up for lunch and then at the very end of the workshop, the sky turned blue with fluffy clouds!

We are so lucky to get to work in the Canoe House. It was a flurry of activity with the grounding morning habits: check in, journaling, a walk and then jumping right back into the projects!

Vincent started working on their animation currently Untitled but the story is about how there are so many fires now in the summers and how it affects the environment and animals. A bear and bunny emerged from clay and the backgrounds were started and the story is set!

Sophia worked on her script, working title: I’m Ready Now Grandma. It is a personal story about wishing she had spent more time learning about cultural things from her grandmother. There was a lot of visualizing the scenes and planning and considering locations and casting. Khloe is cast as the main character from the age 8-15 and Sophia shall play herself as her older self! By the end of the day we might have a contender for grandma and so there is a plan to film some scenes tomorrow.

Khloe also brought in costumes and props for Sophia’s film and helped with story. She also experimented with a short animated film about deer on a multi-media background - complete with lighting! She is considering speaking Anishinaabemowin as the audio track. Khloe will be ready to act tomorrow in Sophie’s film as well as continue to work on the deer animation (also currently Untitled). Khloe will also animate one of her drawings for Sophia’s film.

Huxley and Luke worked together on a script and shot list. The working title is: Cut the Wire and remains a tale to inspire the community to come together rather than just check out or complain. There is a plan to film all the scenes that Luke is in tomorrow!

Luke worked on another film idea based on the culinary arts and highlighting food security…there could be a collaboration with Khloe and Vincent here as well!

Honourable mention goes out to Casey for collecting all the art supplies and photo copies and contracts and helping with shot lists and equipment and… and…. AND!

What a great crew here! Everyone is also so SELF MOTIVATED!

Seriously fun.

Time for the lake! ;)
