Old Crow - day 3
A new shop is being built across from the cabin. The arena was torn down and now this huge building is taking up some pretty nice river front real estate….
We walked to the workshop with Mary Jane this morning. Van Gwinzhii! (Good morning!)
Stan JR was at the desk. He caught us up about the community meat cache (newly renovated!) by the river front and all the community fish and meat preparation workshops!
Abdou put stop motion on laptops! Mahsi’ Choo!
There was certainly some challenges with the animation stations today. We couldn't get the PC computers to talk to the cameras in stop motion studio…Mercury retrograde could be the reason for our technical issues??? But tech challenges are always a part of filmmaking! Thanks to Jack and Ben for their patience today! ;)
Jack still played with animation and created a cool drawn animation!
Ben was the trouble shooter for the animation stations!
MJ wrote her voice over and recorded it. She also collected some footage!
Ruth recorded her practice eulogy!
Delectable beef ribs and rice was our lunch. Mahsi’ Choo to Darrell!
Jocelyn filmed 3 scenes and even edited them together!
Jonathon filmed Ruth and edited with Ruth! He also filmed by the river for his own film and helped Jocelyn for her film!
Florence wrote her Gwich’in story!
Ryder watched some Our World horror films for inspiration.
After the workshop, Mariel arrived from Dawson City and Jeff came from Vancouver -thanks to Megan for picking them up and showing them their billet homes! Mariel is staying with Sarah and her family and Jeff is staying at Loretta’s place while she is away.
Mariel is here to represent KIAC and to meet community members for potential future creative workshops and is running the animation portion of the Our World workshop! She will stay with us until October 17th!! Jeff is coming to teach drone for the weekend. He unfortunately can’t stay for the whole workshop but we are delighted he can be here for Saturday and Sunday.
Chili dinner for the mentors and then a walk and bed -phew!
