Bella Bella - Workshop Day 1

8:30am until 4pm! The Youth Centre was A BUZZ all day!!!

A LOT happened both in pre production AND production!!

Ange interviewed her sister Olivia and her friend Sierra and her step mom! She also animated her opening title! Her film is about bullying!

Hailey and Aaliyah planned out their music video, writing out the lyrics and creating a shot list, they even captured some video and photos! This music video is based on a song that Hailey wrote and recorded with N’we Jinan . Both Aaliyah and Ange sing on it.

Latoya planned her film, creating a list of interviewees, contacting them and scheduling interviews and even conducted one interview with Teacher, Vicki!

Bella is planning her video which is for the Health Centre highlighting all their cool programs. She also filmed two of the programs in action. Bella also started to write a voice over and intro.

Sam is writing a rap song called Dear Dad. It is his response to abuse and abandonment. A brave and honest film that will provide catharsis for him to express himself. He also recorded the verses her wrote and selected a beat. Then he started putting it all together in the editing program.

Kaitlynn made an amazing puppet inspired by gacha animations. She plans to animate on green screen and have her puppet interview people in the community!

Elle and Georgia are working together and are creating a piece about Heiltsuk land. The did a TON of research, planning to talk about the old town and then bring it all the way to the present and the Big House celebration! Elle’s mom Michelle, the language teacher at BBCS, helped with territory map, and stories about the meanings of all the house poles in the new Big House.

Robyn visited from the Heiltsuk Band Council Culture centre and offered help to any students who need language and cultural assistance for their films! Thank you!

Tom, the art teacher, helped with outputting Hailey’s song and providing more laptops.

Howie and Lori made an amazing lunch of ribs, pasta salad and French fries.

Everyone was so helpful and hard working (and FUN) today! THANK you!
